This is Lexington. Her mom is an Easter Egger and dad is a Barnyard mix with a straight comb. She hatched 4/19, making her about 7 weeks.
I’m leaning pullet, but am suspicious.
Pics from today 6/4:
I’ve been burned so many times. Tell me my suspicions are unwarranted.
She was the first hatch of the group (usually male). She was blonde at hatch (usually male with my mixes). She’s always been friendly and outgoing (often male). Her full brother was a sneaky late developing cockerel (is she sneaky too?).
Is there any sex-linked comb genes? Hers is straight. Her older sister’s comb was straight. Her brothers’ combs have been pea-like. Mom’s comb is pea, dad is straight.
Unrelated to gender… is Lexington abnormally short? She’s built much like a quail or ground-dwelling bird (think woodcock minus the beak). Am I just seeing things?
