8 week old barred rock caught head in wire

My 8 week old barred rock got it's head caught in the hardware cloth .On the left side it's eye is pushed in, we have no vets here that take care of chickens,would appreciate any advice I could get. Thank you.

I don't think there's anything you can do but wait and see if it heals. More than likely it will lose that eye, or at least the sight in it.

I'm sorry to hear about your chick. Do you have any photos of the damage?

It's hard to know what to tell you, so I will just give you some general eye care instructions - if the eye has been bleeding or has dirt/debris in it - flush it gently with sterile water or saline. If is cut or was extremely dirty, then applying an ophthalmic eye ointment like Terramycin or Vetericyn eye gel may help fight infection.

Depending on how badly it's damaged - your chick may lose the eye. Only time will tell.

Is the eye able to open?

We had a rooster that got beaten up and his eye was pushed in looking like that. It was mostly bc of swelling and he's healed just fine. You chick will likely be okay even if it does lose that eye.

Just keep a watch on it and see that she is drinking and eating well.
