Hi! I've been arguing with my family about this for a minute now! I'm currently raising 6 chickens which were said to be all female (of course I know thats not always the case) Now at 8 weeks, one my Barred Rocks is significantly bigger than the others and has a much more developed crown. My family is almost positive its a rooster but I (mostly trying to stay optimistic) think its too soon to tell! I'm attaching a couple pictures of Eggs (potential rooster):

and Mochi, another one of my Barred Rocks which is the same age:

What do you think?

I guess as added info, I should mention that she very early on established dominance among the 6 chicks and eats way more than the rest which is what I originally attributed her size to.

Barring say pullet. I'm thinking she's older than the other chicks. Easily happens when you buy from a hatchery.

Eggs is a cockerel. Even if it was a few weeks older to account for the size, my barred rock pullet has about 8% of that comb at 12 weeks.

Folks are right that his feathering is unusual for a boy - dark, which usually means pullet. But that comb and those stocky legs, I really can't imagine that one turning out to be a hen.
