The width or the combs? I was only concerned with how tall they were, not width. I'll keep that in mind for the future, since I may have to try again for a hen...Mostly the wide, red combs and well-developed red wattles.

With most combs, width of comb doesn't matter. However, with rose combs (like wyandottes have), roosters usually have wider combs at a younger age. Pullets will have more narrow combs, and of course won't develop the bright red combs/wattles that roosters will.The width or the combs? I was only concerned with how tall they were, not width.
