8 week old Blue Laced Red Wyandottes gender guesses?

Just an update, all three were HENS. One still has a huge comb compared to her sisters, but they're all laying now.
Hooray! Your chicks and mine look the same at 8 weeks, here's hoping I'm as lucky as you! Where did you get yours? It seems that from hatchery to hatchery or breeder to breeder they can vary widely as to when their combs and wattles come out. Mine came from Cackle.

They were actually eggs purchased off of ebay! I can't remember the seller's name, but they had a brother who developed very quickly. He had more comb and wattles than the rest. He's the guy in the back in the below photo. Good luck with your chicks! Mine have been great layers and a great addition to my "chicken garden."

Here's mine at 8 weeks. I've only got the one so I've got nothing to compare to. I am now seeing the value of having multiples in a flock!

Here's a few pictures, I'm not sure at all what it is about the having pattern that I should keep an eye out for?

She was sold as a sexed pullet (I know, I know) she has the same petite legs as her flock mates, she feathered out at the same rate as the others, she's not crowing or mounting, but man, those WATTLES! What do you think?

When it comes to the roosters on the Wyandottes, they are pretty easy to spot if you working with a "pure" Wyandotte ( wyandotte / wyandotte breeding -color variety doesn't matter). The roosters and hens have vastly different feathering patterns. Both sexes have what looks like a "wattle" that you'd expect to find on a rooster. At least until they are about 3 months old... then the roosters' wattle gets serious. Pea combs on both sexes can be fairly large, even for a hen. I have one hen with a comb that's as wide as a dime. My rooster's comb is much much much muuuuch larger.... like.. a few inches. He looks like he's wearing a little red hat. As for feathers, I'll use my wife's description: they look like they are wearing a scarf. That is, the ring of feathers on their "shoulders" is a different pattern, and usually a solid color. The wings get a solid patch of darker coloring on them as well. Roosters also tend to get much taller than the hens before they fill out. The hens tend to be cute, fat, squat, frilly-laced feathering, and a bit shorter than the roosters.

Your update has helped. I'm struggling determining the sex of my wyandotte chicks. She is 8 weeks old has a comb and wattles and have been told its a cockerel as its too early for them to develop those. Here are a few pictures.

I know this is an old thread but this was SO helpful! I had lost hope on my two sexed “girls” looking just like yours at 8 weeks. I know Wyandottes can be tricky. My hope is restored! Thanks for posting an update.
