My 8 week old red speckled Sussex chick has sour crop. How do I treat it? I’ve read that I can treat it with apple cider vinegar. How & what dose can I give her? She’s been separated from the others. No food for last 20 hours. She’s drinking. Has some diarrhea. White stuff in her mouth. Fermented smell coming from her mouth. Please help me.

Can you get some photos of the inside of her beak?
8 weeks old and sour crop. What do you feed?
Is she pooping at all - what's that like (photo)?

If the crop is sour then you want to treat with an antifungal. You can use vaginal yeast cream as outlined in the article below.
Having white stuff in the mouth is a bit concerning to me as well. Hopefully the treatment will help.

As you can see her chest is puffy. Not flat. we haven’t given her food for last 2 days. Her crop feels like a water balloon. Keeps filling up. she has access to water that I’ve treated with apple cider vinegar in it. I will go pick up some of the cream mentioned in the other post. I’m scared to lose her.

Order this (OMNIMYCIN) and give her a pill for 5 days straight. Its a antibiotic made exclusively for chickens.

My husband & I aren’t working right now. We are both school bus drivers. I could afford the miconazole suppositories because my sister is a nurse & she got me some for only $5. I can’t afford to get those pills. Can I just treat her with the suppositories & apple cider vinegar treated water or not? We are only getting 1/2 of our pay as a result of the school closures. Plus, we have a 5 year old son.

In that case just do whatever you think will work. Most likley she will recover. I would only feed her wet feed.

I would use the Miconazole. Sour crop is yeast so should be treated with an anti-fungal, not an antibiotic.
I agree with offering wet feed.

I got the miconazole for her. What wet food can I give her? How much of it & how often? Please. I could use all the advice I can get. Thank you in advance!
