Here are our 4 chicks we could really use a hand on breed and gender because we have no idea :/
They're just head shots but can take some more pictures if needed!

Ryu

Voldermaude ( Maude for short)

Maude seems to have a beard, but you can't really tell in the pictures.

Sorry, but I am just a newbie too and I am not expert enough to tell you what they are. Except I wanted to say they are very sweet! It looks like you have the makings of a nice flock. I also have four, each different breeds, which is good fun. And if they lay different coloured and shaped eggs, it is nice to know who is laying - and who isn't. I got mine as 8 week old pullets, too. It's great to see them growing up and if you visit them a lot and handle from time to time they will become friendly with you.

All the best.

Thank you, they are all very sweet and get along very well together. We can't believe how quickly they have grown already. They're pretty good at being handled apart from chook, he/she doesn't seem to like it so much.

I would say probably mixes on all of them.
Ryu - roo
Voldermaud - pullet
Chook - could go either way, but gut tells me roo
Crow - pullet

Do Ryu and Chook spar at all?

We had a feeling about chook too. It tends to be ryu and crow that spar, crow is the biggest of them all. chook is pretty laid back and stays out of the others way.

Okay so as far as gender goes Ryu (love the name by the way) definitely looks like a rooster and possibly Chook. The rest look pretty girly to me, as far as breed goes, not my specialty but I'll give it a shot, and I'll try and get my Irish and Italian friends on it. Does Ryu have furry feet? If so then I would guess a Sultan or polish ( leaning more towards Sultan.) Same possibly with Chook but with him I am leaning more towards Polish. Maude looks an awful lot like what we here in America call Easter Eggers. Basically a mixed breed that lays green and blue eggs, pretty awesome birds. Crow I am having a bit more trouble with, I'll have to keep thinking about that one. Hope I was at least a little help!

Cheers for having a look Megan. Yeah we thought Ryu might be a rooster, none of them have fury feet, I did look up some pictures of the polish breed does look a bit like ours, I think someone on another board said about araucanas ( think that's the right spelling) looking forward to Maude's eggs if that's the case, she's the craziest of the lot! If it helps at all crow is the biggest of all of them.
Thanks for the help

Patrick
