You definitely have to make sure that they're fully feathered and are acclimated to cooler temperatures before just plopping them outside. I stop using a heat source for them indoors, then they go out to the garage- out of wind and harsh weather. AND then they finally graduate to the coop!I have 6, 8 week old chicks, I wanna move them to the coop, but I am curious if the cold nights will be too harsh for them (28⁰)?
They are fully feathered, and they have been in a 45-55⁰ environment for the past 2 weeks. Are they fully feathered in? When did you wean them off their heat lamp?
They should likely be okay, but if it makes you nervous, transition them out during the day, bring them in at night, and do that for 2-3 days before leaving them out for good. They are fully feathered, and they have been in a 45-55⁰ environment for the past 2 weeks.
