Definitely a roo. His comb is large and bright, and his coloration is irregular, with both black and white and brown feathers. He's pretty, though! I feel for you. Our EE just crowed yesterday.
I agree with everyone. That there is a handsome roo. You can see his saddle feathers getting long and laying to the side of his tail. Sorry if that's bad news!
He is gorgeous isn't it? He's started to get green shiny curved tail feathers now too.... Beautiful. Wish I could keep him, I'd let him make a bunch of mixed breed backyard babies with all my girls. With all the variety in my pen it would be so interesting to see what they all turned out like wouldn't it?
Unfortunately he can't stay.
He'll go live with a friend who has more property and therefore no neighbors to complain about him crowing. He'll end up free ranging unsupervised during the day, which worries me, but I'd rather he have the quality of life than be dinner. He's too pretty to be eaten I think. Besides if DD ever found out someone ate Stripebutt she'd skin me.
I got three more easter egger babies once I was convinced he was a rooster, which was actually before I posted these pictures. I just needed some other opinions to settle it for me. I posted pictures of my other three girls earlier this week, but they're only three weeks old right now. So far they look like pullets though. I plan to post them again in 2 weeks and hopefully everyone will chime in again.
