8 week old Gold Laced Wyandotte : roo or pullet?

Might be a hen----I am looking at the saddle feathers-----they seem to be showing in a couple pics! So you are saying at 8 weeks its comb would Be MUCH Larger???

In these photos I cannot see saddle feathers. And yes, me cockerels at that age had much larger combs.

In the laced variety of wyandotte there is a color difference that difines males and females. Unless of course, they are poorly bred.

You saying this pic is of a 3 week old-----What you feeding it??? LOL

Well don't remember their exact age when I took the pics but 3-4 weeks I'm sure

Well let me say this-----I have raised/breed hundreds of this breed and 1000's and 1000's of chicks. I promise you your pic is of a chick a lot older that 3 to 4 weeks.

5-6 weeks then because we didn't let them out till seven weeks and they were never let out yet.
The cockerels' combs are still larger than the pullet ' s at 1 day old!
I was only trying to tell the OP that her bird's comb is not large enough to be a cockerel.

LilJoe and PD-Riverman, thank you both as I learned a lot from your replies. Here is close up shot of tail

Last seasons GLW roo started crowing at 11 weeks, so we definitely will know in 3 weeks. I'll keep you both posted. Thank you.

Thank you! The tail isn't black and doesn't have sickle feathers so I'm still going for hen

Thank you Cajole for (going to )keeping us updated!

Cajoledn2it, you mentioned in your first post you felt this was a rooster----what makes you feel it is? This pic makes me feel more that it is a pullet??
