8 week old Hamburg - Rooster???

It's REALLY hard to find Hamburg roosters, so please try to sell him (anyway, how much soup would an eight week old Hamburg make?) but...eight weeks? This is my guy at eight weeks:

Yours really doesn't look nearly as masculine. I got my hens when they were a lot older, so I don't have any comparison shots.

x2 he is really a beautiful bird!! Hamburgs aren't exactly common or cheap where I live so I'd expect someone would definitely want him...

I am pretty sure he is almost 8 weeks. I had no idea that Hamburgs were so rare. I guess I just figured that I was easily able to get three of them from the hatchery that anyone else wanting them could easily get them too. Must have been luck of the hatch or something.

After further discussion with my hubby (he is the one dead set against roosters) if he is, indeed, a roo, I am probably going to keep him. Just because I have always wanted a flock of chickens and a rooster crowing. Hubby, on the other hand, does not care to have a rooster around.

I guess I also didn't mean he was going to immediately be soup, either. I had planned to raise him to about 8 or 9 months and then take care of him. I do not have any meat birds - only layers. But - Marv - he will be a permanent resident if s/he does turn out to be a rooster indeed.

Comparing s/he to the other birds in my flock that are the same age - the comb and wattles are sure signs that he is a rooster. None of the other birds (none of them are hamburgs either) are even remotely close to having that dark of a red coloring to them... time will tell though. When s/he doesn't start laying. I will know it is a roo
