Thanks! I wish everyone great luck too!

Will be setting eggs in about an hour or two! Found out a lot have a detached air cell so I will be setting them vertically and will not be turning for the first 48hrs in hope that they will somehow be more stable so I can start turning slowly after the first two days. Of course, no surprise for shipped eggs :)

Yeah, all my shipped eggs have crazy air sacks. But curiously, the Trader Joe's experiment eggs all have lovely little air sacks - somehow I would figure that with all the handling they endure, it would be the same for them as for shipped - although, they do not have to deal with the USPS - so that could be the mitigating factor!

What are you incubating :)

What are you incubating :)
I put in some shipped Bielefelders, our own backyard BCMxs for friends, and the TJ eggs as an experiment. I am seriously concerned about how terrible the Bielefelder air sacks look. Like you, I also do the 2 day wait before turning them - and the full 24+ hour wait before even incubating. I think I'd be thrilled with even about a 30% hatch rate from these.

Nice! I really do hope we both cna get a better hatch rate, but like you said if some at least hatch then that's great considering shipped eggs are hard :p my 24hr wait is up, just twitching the temp a bit before setting them in there.

That's terribly sad. I really want some bielefelders and know how pricey they are, so I definitely feel for you. Fingers crossed that the babies make it so you can post tons of baby pics for us to drool over!!!

Speaking of air sacks, I just candled mine to mark the air cells and I have a few that I picked up yesterday that have "okay" air cells, but they do move a little bit. Out of the 10 I can hatch from this person's eggs, 6 of them are a little jiggly, I guess. I have an auto-turner and am nervous about disrupting the remaining eggs by putting these in a carton cradle to keep them upright for a few days. Can they still hatch or am I asking for trouble just setting them and going?

Lpyrbby, they might hatch just fine so just set them and keep going. Rotate the egg so the turning is perpindicular to the saddling if that makes sense.

I used to wait before setting shipped eggs, but now I set them after resting a few hours in an incubator with higher humidity for a day, then I turn the turner on after 24 hours. After a couple days I turn the humidity back down. This has really helped my hatch rate on shipped eggs, especially the DIS rate.

In my opinion the biggest factor in hatching success is the trip. Often shipped eggs have unseen damage that even the best incubation methods can't fix. All you can do is give it your best shot! Good luck.
