Thanks! I wish everyone great luck too!
Will be setting eggs in about an hour or two! Found out a lot have a detached air cell so I will be setting them vertically and will not be turning for the first 48hrs in hope that they will somehow be more stable so I can start turning slowly after the first two days. Of course, no surprise for shipped eggs![]()
Yeah, all my shipped eggs have crazy air sacks. But curiously, the Trader Joe's experiment eggs all have lovely little air sacks - somehow I would figure that with all the handling they endure, it would be the same for them as for shipped - although, they do not have to deal with the USPS - so that could be the mitigating factor!
I put in some shipped Bielefelders, our own backyard BCMxs for friends, and the TJ eggs as an experiment. I am seriously concerned about how terrible the Bielefelder air sacks look. Like you, I also do the 2 day wait before turning them - and the full 24+ hour wait before even incubating. I think I'd be thrilled with even about a 30% hatch rate from these. What are you incubating![]()
