Thats a plus! But really its not that bad, the boyfriend complains more than anything im kinda immune because im always around chickens lol

I am keeping quite a few inside, too, but I don't want every bird I hatch inside. That would be chaos. Lol I have over eighty inside right now, between day old chicks, to five month old pullets and Silkies, and then a nine month old pullet. I don't smell anything bad, haha. They smell better than dogs and cats in my opinion. Lol

WOW that's a major hatch...
LOL, I'm telling myself I'm starting the year slowly because the breeder flocks are not laying too well just yet.
Never heard of a California grey
It is basically a barred leghorn, but a little calmer. They are my best overall layers, but their eggs are white. I use them also to make black sexlinks that lay light blue eggs by putting a black or lavender Ameraucana roo with the Cali Grey pullets. Those black sexlinks are very popular with my customers. They are almost indistinguishable from a black Ameraucana, but 100% sexable, unlike the true Ameraucanas that take a long time to sex accurately. I have to band the pullets to be sure I can tell them apart from my pure blacks, they have the dark legs and muffs that make Ams so distinctive.
