X's 2. :)

Also, with forced air, I notice that I have to watch the water level..seems to dry out faster than the dry air. So yes, watch the humidity and keep it up around 35 to 45...not as important as temps right now. Humidity becomes more important the last week and during lock down.

I just set my 6 that I got from Penny1960! Keeping my fingers crossed!

I do not need any more, as Penny1960 sent me home with 8 additional chicks on Friday! So now I have 10 chicks in a brooder. Lord help me (or my neighbors!)!!!

I have the best results with humidity between 35 and 45.

Great, thanks, Cynthia!! I really appreciate the help. I'm super nervous. I don't want to ruin their chances with my incompetence....

I'll be setting mine tomorrow. The silkies always seem to be a day earlier than the large fowl for me.

So the one broody hen quit, but another hen in a different pen got comfortable yesterday and will be ready for the chicks.

Lucky you had another broody? No bator? Another silkie hen? Yes, they can't get..comfortable quite quickly.

I'll be putting eggs in the bator, especially with the temps in the forecast. I just prefer to let a hen do the work of raising them. I have 19 silkie hens. Someone is usually broody. Or in the case of my blue hen, just decides that she will be helping raise chicks whether the other hen likes it or not.

So my chicks are 6 weeks and the three hens quit taking care of them this last week. They are in the same pen as the broody. That means there is a good chance she will have help with the chicks.

So..I said I was in, and that my incubator tray holds 42, but I ended up setting 41 , 4 days ago, after the ones I had set before, had over half not fertile, and then a 110 temp spike. 2of 6 chicken and 9of12 quail survived! Well, the 41i set, looks like all the eggs my buff orp bred with, are not fertile again at day 4. Over half the eggs.I'm disappointed, as I set an egg in my homemade incubator that was inside my light brahma that got killed by a hawk 2 days ago. Anyways, there are some turkey eggs in my homemade incubator that i will check one last time tomorrow, but are likely infertile and will be pulled. So I have a little bit of room to set some eggs with the LB egg,and only 2 green eggs, and 9 quail that are due in 5 days anyways.

I want to set to try for a best hatch rate, so I will set the 6 minimum to join. If my ee and slw lay before noon, i'll set 8. Do we all have to message someone with an exact number or can we just say here?
PM Ron with the number of eggs you're setting, it's for a contest so it wouldn't be appropriate to post the number here :)
