Me? You asking me? If you timed this right for the set date, then I would be assisting today. That's me!Happy new year everyone. I need some advise. I had 1 chick hatch but it had unabaorbed intestine and died. I have 2 egg's remaining, it is day 23 early and i float tested these 2 and they wiggled like crazy. I candled but do not see internal peep's. I am worried they may be malpositioned though one still has veining at the bottom. Any advise? Should I make a hole in the air cell, should I wait? I dont want to lose these littles if I can help them.
Thank you hun.Me? You asking me? If you timed this right for the set date, then I would be assisting today. That's me!
Well my last few hatched last night my total is 19/20 chicks hatched and 5/11 ducks im a little disapointed on my hatch rate for my ducks all were moving on lockdown then seems they didnt obserb the yolks and drowned
We also got the most snow in years last night. A light dusting that was gone by morning. lolOh my goodness! We got snow! We got a phone call early this morning, just as I was getting up. They said not to go out unless you have 4 wheel drive. Same time my husband was on the phone listening to the message..his cell phone rings. It's his brother, he calls back. He's stuck in the parking lot of his wife's work. We have a small dodge truck with 4 wheel drive. He's out helping him now. This is unreal, the most snow we've had in years...and it's supposed to keep snowing until Friday! Our freeway is even closed.
Well, out to shovel paths.
My husband did get up early with our old dog to let out. He wasn't really paying attention .. just thought, wow, we got a lot of snow. Looked down in time to see our poor old Ziggy, a Shcnoodle..disappear under the snow as he jumped off the porch. DH hurrys and gets him, then gets a broom for a quick fix for the dog.![]()

I've tried ducks. I had a hard time hatching them. Sorry.![]()
I "sort of" go by the 21 day and I "sort of" go by when all the chicks hatch out. If everyone pops out at 21-22 days and then I have a couple of stragglers, I don't usually get past two extra days and I call it and open the eggs, unless some chick provides me with proof that they've internally pipped and they're working on it. I've never float tested, I go by candling. I usually figure things must not be going well for stragglers and they'll perish regardless so I open. If they live, they live...if they die, they die. I find most have already died and that's why they're late. I also am in the incubator because I stagger hatch in just one 'bator. That can affect the last chicks with humidity a bit.Happy new year everyone. I need some advise. I had 1 chick hatch but it had unabaorbed intestine and died. Oh gosh...be careful Cynthia.Going out to shovel. Taking my phone out with the camera. Wonder how Missy will handle this deep stuff! I dread shoveling paths. :/
