Ended 8th Annual New Years Day Hatch a long 2017 Cutest Chick Hatched Contest

I'm a sucker for puffy cheeks. All puffy cheeked chicks win!!

(and that's why they don't let me judge these things)

I like your design. What are the measurements? Is it meant to be easily moved, like a chicken tractor?

It's 8 ft in length by 4 ft in width with 6ft at the high point. Its divided in two the bottom part being the run of 8 ft in length by 2 ft in height. The upper portion is for them to sleep flooring made of hardware cloth. I'm adding the wheels today and hopefully finishing it. Its gonna be a coop tractor its kind of heavy cuz I built it with 2x4's and metal roofing which I found and I'm recycling but still one person can move it once the wheels are on. so the only thing that came out of my pocket is the wheels and nails. It'll house 15 layers easily, that's what I plan on keeping after the culling of my meat project. Right now it'll house over 100 chicks from 2wk-4wk old.

Thank you for that information! I am considering tractors for a few breeding groups in the future. I am starting a breeding program to create a hybrid that will technically be an easter egger, but have full crests and only lay blue eggs. My goal is to get those two traits to breed true 100% of the time. The F1 generation is in the incubator now.

Now that would make a cute chick!

@lpyrbby

One of my easter egger hens door-dashed and got mated by my younger Polish. I didn't think anything of it when I set eggs and one chick turned out to be from the Polish/ee breeding. I'll have to see if this one is a boy or girl and what color egg it lays before I know if it can be part of the program. If not, It'll join the rest of the flock. We're calling is Hafahat.

You must live in a warmer part of the states? I am doing somewhat the same as you...but I'm wanting walnut/cushion type combs and no wattles on both males and females. Straight combs keep popping up on both...lol.
