9 week old Cockerel Feather loss

Hello! I just got a beautiful 9 week old Easter Egger Cockerel. I have had him just over a week now. I noticed he had missing feathers near his uropygial gland, about the size of a nickel. Can anyone tell me why he is missing feathers there? He has been quarantined with two Marans Pullets since I got him. The pullets seem to be fine and don't appear to be missing any feathers. Im a new chicken momma. Any advise will help. If anyone would like to see a photo I can attach one at a later time.

It sounds as if he was feather pecked/plucked at his last home. Pictures would help.
