9 week old duck not walking

i have a 9 week old duck that i noticed was limping yesterday afternoon, today she’s barely walking and just lays down. we noticed she has two small scabs on the bottom of her feet but she doesn’t act like they’re sore.. does anyone know what could be her issue?

Are you giving her enough niacin? If so its probably bumblefoot.

can you posts some good pictures of her feet and give us more info like what are you feeding including treats and are you supplementing with any type of niacin? Breed too please.

it’s a pekin, but after inspecting a little closer i’ve noticed it’s only one foot and her right leg was swollen today, im thinking she’s got bumble foot due to a big scabby knot on the bottom of her foot, i’ve got the scab off but see no plug or hole where the infection could come out.. she’s on duck food and chick starter that we’ve just switched over to a mix with all kinds of stuff in it. we also give her rooster booster vitamins and electrolytes in her water… we have 3 other ducks and all seem perfect fine.

Pics would help, but Pekin often have foot/leg issues because if their size. Mine is an adult, and I still supplement niacin by mixing nutritional yeast flakes in her pellets. Peas are also relatively high in niacin, and no duck I know can resist peas.

oh yes, the leg issues are horrible, my father got me some eggs from his friend and i incubated them and hatched 7 total out of the 10… one was born with a “locked leg” so he’s an inside duck that belongs to my sister now. his name is nemo lol, but they were all born with crooked legs and one in particular walks on his “elbows” like his legs stay bent like an L instead of the normal way they walk, but he seems to be doing just fine with the rest. this one that i suspect to have bumble-foot had a slightly crooked leg but was fine until now. here is nemo with the “locked” leg when he was a baby

Sounds like you may have had some troubles in incubation to have these duckling hatch with these leg issues. Slipped tendon etc. They really need some Liquid B complex [TSC} carries one it will say injectable but we use it orally 1 ml per duck over a yummy treat.
At 9 weeks some of these leg problems won't correct themselves totally but can still help.
With Pekins most likely they will need to be supplemented with niacin their whole lives. Nutritional yeast is another good source of niacin, but the ones already having leg issues need the liquid B complex. This little one with the locked leg is most likely a slipped tendon which won't correct itself now without surgery but there are other options too like wheelchairs for poultry and slings to keep the duck from injuring itself. i was thinking that as well, but i’ve been successful hatching any other time.. i just think the parents aren’t meant for breeding due to most of their eggs in general come out with leg issues. they’re now trying to sell the parents too which i was going to buy but my dad said that they will always have babies with leg problems hopefully they’re no longer using them for breeding.. but we took the one with the “locked” leg to the vet and they said it was probably due to bad breeding or genes from the parents, it was not fixable so we have him indoors as a pet but they didn’t think it was his tendon. so we’re not sure what happened in their legs honestly, but i’ve read pekins have horrible legs in general also.i’m still on the hunt for liquid b complex my tsc didn’t have any….thank you for the advise

You're going to need a buddy for him. Ducks do much better with another duck around.

Can you flex his leg any? Maybe try to get some sort of movement in it?
