9 year old child charged in shooting..

Under 10 is considered under the age that a child can be charged with crimal charge where I live and its a more reasonable age, especially when I get told that 9 year old boys should be allowed in women's toilets because they are too young to go into a man's toilet. It was a terrible accident and should be treated as one.

This child did not intentionally harm anyone. If anyone had actually been paying attention to the kid, it wouldn't have happened. It seriously doesn't sound like this kid is a budding sociopath. He had a horrible enough home life that at 9 he was going to run away.

Nothing in the article says or even implies that the kid knew the gun was cocked or even loaded. It went off when the bag was dropped. Kids do stupid stuff. It is in fact one of the defining characteristics of kids; their immature brains don't make judgements the way adults do. They don't reason things through, they are much more influenced by the possibility of positive consequences then the potential for negative consequences, they don't understand that are reasons behind rules (especially true for children with inconsistent parenting). and they do stupid stuff because they are KIDS.

I don't see what charging this child achieves...it doesn't help the girl who was shot, it doesn't teach him that adults are looking out for his best interests, it doesn't help him develop into a decent human being, all it does is punish. It doesn't even punish the right people; the adults that were supposed to be raising this kid; not making him unhappy enough to run away, and leaving a loaded gun where he could get it.

Like I said, if he had brought the gun to school with the intent to shoot people...
Then thats a whole different kettle of fish..

Simply put the boy could only get 2 years maximum at a juvenile facility and 6 months for criminal trespass. Being 9 years old and probably no priors he'd only get 15 months max in a juvenile detention center. I doubt he'll get more than a year, and that's too long. Those places usually messes up kids for life. I'd still like to know when an accident is no longer an accident.

What are you asking again..??
An accident when someone gets shot, "not on purpose".. lol LIke a gun going off while in a backpack..
"On purpose" is when you aim at someone and say, "I'm gonna blow yur brains out.."
