northeast ohio
I have a 3 year old Plymouth rock, she has been laying around, with a pale comb, runny white poop almost clear, and closing her eyes. now she has isolated herself, only at night and now during the day. the weather is hot here in northeast Ohio, I gave her a bath and dried her, it seemed to help and she ate some worms, strawberries and banana. today she was really bad. I didn't see or back end being egg bound I thought u could see it or feel it. no worms, no mites, no injuries. I gave her today some electrolytes and probiotics, but she wont eat unless i hold it in my hand and even then she acts like she almost cant see it. she closes her eyes and opens her mouth then closes it. i don't know the last time she laid since they are free range. I have 5 other girls without a problem and a rooster. I felt so bad for her tonight I have a fan on her, with her infused water and food, gave her some antibiotics and a little ib prophane (i didn't have Tylenol) she has been this way going on ten days. I've spent 200$ on fruits, apple cider vinegar, worms, new bedding, mite begone, special food and probiotics and electrolytes. Shes super sweet I love her, her name is Ruby. I just want to help her or not let her suffer anymore, as I don't have the funds for vet care. please tell me what I can do to help her or if she is too far gone. seems to have started after the field across the street was sprayed with the worst smelling manure I've ever smelled in my life. they don't cross the street, so I don't know if that would do anything but I'm trying to give all the details I can. thanks so much in advance. hope to hear from someone soon

We're surrounded on three sides by farm fields so know what you mean about the smell. It doesn't harm our silkies who sometimes venture in there on searches for bugs.

On the off-chance she's egg-bound, I'd give her a calcium or Tums. Just open her beak and pop it in. I just gave a Tums to a hen I don't know what's wrong with too, as it was higher than the calcium I had (500 mg vs 300 mg).

Being egg-bound is fatal if they don't expel the egg, so I'd at least eliminate that being the issue. You can give her another tomorrow too.

I hope she turns around and gets better!
