HELP! My Hovabator turner hasn't changed positions since I checked this morning! I know these are supposed to turn SLOW, but it has been slanted to the extreme right since 12 hours ago...Shouldn't I have seen some movement since then?!? The motor sounds like it's moving, but I have checked for 12 hours and haven't seen any change in position!!!

It is my first time using the turner, and it WAS definitely working before I put the eggs in...Tested it over the whole weekend!!! They make such a point of saying that you won't SEE it move, so I didn't give it a second thought until this morning...Was more worried more about keeping temp and humidity stable.

MY QUESTION IS: WHAT SHOULD I DO TONIGHT, IF ANYTHING, TO TRY AND SAVE THESE EGGS??? IS EVERYTHING FINE? SHOULD I TRY TO MANUALLY TURN THE EGGS THIS EVENING WHILE LEAVING THE TURNER IN PLACE AND CHECK IT IN THE MORNING.....OR ASSUME IT IS NOT WORKING AND TAKE IT OUT TO TEST, AND BEGIN TO TURN EGGS MANUALLY WITHOUT THE TURNER..????

THIS IS CRITICAL TIMING AND I DON'T WANT THE EGGS TO GET FRIED IN ONE POSITION OVER NIGHT!

Thanks in advance to anyone who can try and offer some advice!

Sincerely,

Alys

I've had turners go bad. If you a SURE it isn't turing then just start hand turning 3 times a day. A lot of people don't use turners and have good results.

How long before you should be able to visually tell if the turner isn't turning??? in 12 hours, shouldn't the eggs be leaning in the other direction? Help!!!

It my be working. Those turners turn 10 or more times a day. You would have to check it every 15 minutes for at least an hour. You would notice movement then. You could also put a penny on top of an egg and see if it falls of.

Thank You!!! The Penny Is A Good Idea! I've Checked It About Once Each Hour Since This Morning...it Still Has Not Been Slanted To The Left - Only To The Right.

Well first, make sure that you do not post the same thing in multiple sections.

As far as the actual turner issue, stay calm.

Just turn them by hand from now on. I have had excellent hatches with the eggs just sitting on the bottom of the incubator, turning two or three times a day.

Sorry, Posted in both sections because it's critical timing...I'm on the west coast, and most on the forum members are in BED by now!!! Didn't want to wake up with fried peeps and no answers while my question was bounced around from INCUBATING to EMERGENCY. So, once again, SORRY!

I "thought" mine wasn't turning. Took a sharpy and marked where the arm attaches from the motor to the trays. It was obvious after about an hour I was OK.

Cynthia...Thank you!!! I will try that right now.

And Burbs, I'll try the sharpie, but I've visually marked it and it does not appear to have moved at all...

THANK YOU, YOU TWO, FOR BEING SO KIND!!! That is exactly what I was hoping for...Some type of help, hand-holding, and useful information from NICE, seasoned BYC forum members!
