Our chickens just started laying a month ago. Our Cinnamon Queen lays a massive egg every couple weeks. They're been getting bigger and bigger. I'm kind of worried. 80g, 84g, 86g, and now 93g!! There is nothing we can do, right? She's just sorting her laying out?

Errr... I've got good news and bad news.

Good news: perfectly normal for pretty much any production sexlink.
Bad news: Due to this perfectly normal behaviour, most sexlinks are prone to a variety of reproductive disorders and don't live long past two years of age.

oh...

Is that a double yolker?
She may grow out of it, a month into laying is still early days.
And yes, high production hybrids are prone to reproductive issues which can lead to an 'early' demise...but not always.

I have an Australorp that lays double (and triple) yolks almost every time she lays, she is a good eater, clean, friendly and so far so good health. She is just over a year, bought some sussex this year - goldens and speckled; Do you plan on eating them at some point? My thoughts are after a couple years of high production, they slow down and therefore will be providing us dinner instead of eggs

What are you feeding that girl!!
How old is she?
She just turned one, she is in with 5 other Austras, 2 marans and one buff orp - they eat Dumor layer feed, with a handful of either sunflower seeds, meal worms or scratch in the evening before bed (to make sure they are all in the run near the ladder to the coop). The others eat the same thing and they are normal single yolks - thought it was odd....
