9th-annual-byc-new-years-day-2018-hatch-a-long

Im so glad everyone is hatching! It's so fun! Apparently I didn't fry all my eggs because I have 2 external pips! My lone Orpington and a BrahmaX. Hopefully there will be more but I'll be satisfied if even 2 make it all the way out. My temps were nuts for a while..
Loving the NY Hatch-a-long! Super fun to join in with you folks!

:wee:woot:thumbsup

Great news!

Looks very tired!

Might have some more yolk to absorb too

We're leaving them all alone. The ONLY thing we'll do is remove the shells once the chicks are fully detached, since I had a chick cut her toe on a shell in a previous hatch.

It looks like I may have to put the first 2 into the brooder sooner than 24 hours, since they are climbing ALL OVER the other eggs.. sounds like friggen chicken bowling in the bator!! :gig

With all the chicks/ducklings in there, the broader gets cleaned like 3 times a day! The ducks will get their own brooder as soon as the bigger heating pad gets here.
I'm loving all the pictures and updates from everyone!! Love seeing all the babies! Even though I'm just hatched these out they are so cute i want to hatch more! But I said no more until after the baby in my belly hatches lol

It is good that they are active for sure though

Good plan! I will hatch some dark egg layers this spring. I hope the pregnancy and birth goes well for you

Was telling the DH how, at the last hatch, I went into the kitchen to make the kiddo a PB&J, came back and MAGICALLY, another chickie appeared!

Well, within 30 minutes, these 3 arrived! We had 22,23 & 24. These are #1, 2 and 21.
