a baby chick with a swollen bottom

Not sure what it is called (vent?) 1 week old is pink and swollen she had a pasty buy yesterday I washed it removed dry junk and put some vasoline it looks clean but pink and swollen. Any Ideas I am a newbe

Make sure the other chicks are not pecking at her little fuzzy butt. Keep an eye on her and make sure she's eating and drinking. Keep her butt cleaned.

One of my chicks had this same problem too. I just kept an eye on her and she was fine. A few of the other chicks did peck at it every now and then, but she's fine in spite of it! Poor baby....

Ouch ----- poor baby with a sore tuschy. Is there such a thing as pampers for chickies?

You might want to dust a little Aeromycin powder on her hiney (some will absorb through skin, especially if she's raw there) or add some to water for a few days to help her out in case she's got any infection causing the swelling.
