A Barbezieux Thread.

My husband wants them for meat birds. Hoping to hatch out some breeding pairs. Of course, I want them for their beauty, too. If these don't hatch out, I'll be waiting for spring. It's been @50 deg, mild fall for Michigan because of El ninio.

I have 9 females and 3 males that are about 5 months old. I culled 2 roosters at 3 months and they were meaty. Does anyone know at what age the hens start laying?

A fellow BYC member said hers started laying around 6 months. Mine are 5 months and have been checking out the nest boxes. Will report when they start laying.

Thanks. I have been feeding them chick starter and I dont think it fills the and a lot of food is wasted. I am waiting for the first egg so that I can switch them to layer feed.

Guzman. One of my females left a present in the nest box today. They are 5.5 months old. Yours may be laying soon. :)

I think my pullets will begin laying too since some of the them have a red comb.
