A bear got 6/7 of my chickens...

I was browsing units on Amazon asked a question and this is what I got:

The manufacturer answered your question, "Is this strong enough for bears?" about Zareba ESP10M-Z 10-Mile Solar Low Impedance....
Consumer Relations answered:
"We do not recommend the use of electric fencing to deter bears as they may become increasingly violent."

I'm not sure what they mean by increasing violent? Is the bear going to swear revenge and come for me?! The chicken heads I had to clean from my yard say the bear was already pretty violent! I found this response bizarre considering the officer I spoke with from Wildlife management also suggested an electric fence. Just thought I would share!

Maybe they thought you wanted to contain bears with it...

That person probably doesn't have any kind of livestock. Put the wire up and make sure the fence charger has at least 1 joule (not .1 joule).

My brother put some wire up around his horse pasture and got a .1 joule and one horse goes right through it and my brother touched the wire and got a little shock. I have 1 joule and when I have touched my wire it has made my heart skip a few beats. He's going to invest in a 1 joule charger.

In addition to the electric fencing, I suggest that you be diligent in removing all feeders in the evening. Fencing can fail, and that feed is like a beacon, calling in those bears.
@Psei, where are you located? Maybe we can point you in the right direction for some new chicks.

I have a dog... I don't mind him getting a zap to teach a lesson to stay away... but would that be enough to actually kill him? He's about 55lbs.
