A beautiful widow......(you may find her creepy)

Told you we have a ton of black widows around here, so I took my camera outside a few minutes ago, and here she is:

Oh she is lovely! I can't imagine being able to just go find one whenever...well, except this new one since I now know where she lives.

Thanks for posting her pic.

Is that her eggs to the left...looks like spider web and something under it?

I think it is, she moved very little from the time I turned over the wheel until I took her pic, then I just turned the tire back over.

Haven't read the whole thread yet...so apologies if I'm duplicating info...

Mosquitoes are pollinators. Mostly they are flitting from flower to flower drinking nector. Only the female bites because she needs a blood meal to nourish her eggs.

This doesn't mean I like getting bit...most times I swat, muttering B**ch.

Spiders, I really don't like. We have eave spiders here that spin these gorgeous webs but they are huge....actually I think they are what "Charlotte" was...and so thats what I call them..."Charlotte, you just stay nice and cozy in your web, and its all good **gulp**"

I had no idea that mosquitoes actually help with pollination. There are so many others who do that don't eat me, though.

Right now I look like I am diseased from all the bites and feel like a mosquito pin cushion so I will squish any one I see!!! Yeah, I knew the males don't bite. I have actually had a whole swarm of the males get in my car when I forgot to close the window one evening....and not a single bite.

Sorry, but I'd rather paint each tomato blossom with a dry paintbrush than deal with skeeters. Darn skeeters didn't pollinate my maters when we had the bad honey bee die off a few years ago...

Funny this topic should be here today. I just glanced over at my Ripley's Believe it or Not day calendar and it has and interesting bit of info....

"Middle Eastern Camel Spiders grow to 6 inches in diameter and can run up to 10 miles an hour!"

Just thought I'd share...and now that I have the heebie jeebies...I'll toddle off to bed.
