EDIT: @DesertChic I always thought for some reason that you had them and that they were in the juvie stage...probably because I also view the Aussie page.

I've got three stages of chickens on my property right now...a group that's just about start laying (Aussies, BRs and Silkies), a group that is 6 weeks old today (NNs), and my about-to-hatch chicks (Biels).

I'm sort of addicted.

In order to get your true chicken math you have to
subtract all immature chickens
subtract all that are not laying
subtract all roosters
subtract all that you might lose to predators (10%)
subtract all that you might sell (10%)
what is left is your true number of chickens.

What do you mean "sell"??? As in, part with my chickens?

Very cute!!!!
Q1. how many eggs did you get?
Q2. how many eggs made it to lockdown?
So wish that I could get some right now

I got 14 eggs from a breeder in Scottsdale but only 3 made it to lockdown. (Very disappointing since they didn't even go through the mail.) And I also got 8 eggs off of eBay, a breeder in Oklahoma, 6 of which made it to lockdown.

We noticed that two more eggs/chicks had pipped around 10:35 this evening, but they're taking their sweet ole time hatching. In the meantime, my lonely little boy hung out with me for a few hours and is not finally resting in the brooder.

I have the chance to buy a 3- 4 month Beilfelder Roo for $10.
I currently only have black Astrolaurps and buff Orpington hens.
Will the Bielefelder really increase productivity and make larger eggs in future generations?
What color will the eggs be?
