A Bielefelder Thread !

I made myself leave so I could get a few things done today! I came home to a baby bielefelder...one down, 11 to go! And I got my first MUTT (my Golden commet just gave me her first egg, a leghorn is the daddy. She was our first ever chicken to our house....so excited! We felt we needed eggs to eat and eggs to breed...hehe). Due to this being our first, we may hatch it instead of eat it! Awesome size and shape, so I wonder if she has been hiding some in the yard (those girls get to free range daily).

Day is looking awesome!!!

I would eat that one just to see if she is laying fertile eggs.

Honestly, for me being a little new at this, I felt it was easier to incubate and watch for veining in a few days than look for a bullseye?! I'm a creature of habit. Never found a bullseye before but totally get the veining now. Hehe...

We are traveling to pick up our son from his Grams house, but when we left this morning 2 more were hatching. I believe that leaves me with 2 yet to hatch. 4 hatched overnight. I need to get some pictures up!! They were all too wet, but from what I could see it was looking 50-50 on boy - girl ratio! :)

Hi all! Still have 2 working hard at it, but here are some that are finished with their rough night. :) As of now, I have 4 boys and 4 girls! So I must have 3 left in th incubator? ?? :)

I received some information and pictures on the German standard and we have some work to do. This picture is not as clear as I would like because it is a picture of a picture but you can still see the body lines, angles, and frame work of this rooster clearly. I have seen a lot of triangular shaped roosters and the standard clearly says they should not be shown. They are missing the arch of the deep chest. The colors do not stand out as well in this picture but the Germans breed for Tri color and also note the Comb. The Comb in this picture for the standard is a lot fuller and arching than what I've seen. And tails should be at an obtuse angle instead of flowing and arching out of the back. Would love to see some pictures of Roosters that have this correct body type, color, and comb. Hopefully more to come and a big thank you to our new friend in Germany.
I can't tel from the pic what the trio colors would be. Are the hackles and saddle feathers kind of a wheat color the the wing that nice red with the rest of the body being black barred?

I think that body type is more like a RIR even on the pullets.
