A Bielefelder Thread !

Oh... this is the Italien (Leghorn?) that the autor talks about in the introduction. The Lower Rhiner is the NIederrheiner and, I think, only availible in lemon cockoo in America.

Even with the best translation of the German Bielefelder standard, I need pictures! :) Thank you. I am more of a visual learner.

I got my first Bielefelder egg today! My pullet, Gidget, laid a 1.41 ounce egg just one day before turning 24 weeks old. I'm such a proud chicken mommy.

If anyone is interested I will be selling a quad of Beliefelders. It will consist of 1 rooster (3yrs old) and 3 hens (1yr or older). These do not meet the German standard of perfection but would be great for eggs and other things. The Rooster is absolutely first class with his hens and they do free range some. I have hatched some of their eggs and will be keeping the pullets to see how they turn out.

I have spoke with some breeders of other breeds such as black cooper Marans and Blue Jersey Giants and have got some new information concerning the process of getting the Bielefelder recognized by the APA. We will need 5 dedicated breeders all who must be APA members to breed toward a standard for 5 years. This will be a very long process and we would need to work together and document everything. Please think this over long and hard and private message me if your interested. You may want to check the dues for APA membership to see if your on board. Thanks
