A Bielefelder Thread !

I posted these on the new B thread but thought I would share here too. When I saw them sitting under the citrus trees with Christmas only past a few days I thought of a partridge in a pear tree.

Love my B-la-felders!

Hi folks!! I'd love to find bielefelder chicks or eggs near California; would any of you have some or know someone? We did check in with a few hatcheries, but no luck so far...

I am placing an order with Greenfire today and splitting it with a girlfriend to defray shipping... We are in Thousand Oaks. PM me if you'd like to be in on it- it's chicks only. I will be getting a couple Roos in my order and hopefully by fall be able to offer eggs or chicks to some here in CA. They would be strictly a fun, backyard, family project for our kids and us.

Great idea asking for others to join you in your order! I hope you all have a GREAT experience with your chicks - BBG (Biels Be Great)!

Okay, I FINALLY got the camera out to take photos of my new crew - Biels, of course! Two pullets, one cockerel, about two to three weeks in these photos (they are from different clutches and are of slightly different ages). I got these little beauties from Chris in Ronaoke, VA, and they are absolutely wonderful. The oldest pullet is definitely in charge but the little cockerel is no slouch!

This is my first time brooding chicks and I cannot tell you how great the Premier 1 heat plate is! It adjusts VERY easily and accommodates chicks of different ages/sizes by simply making one side taller than the other. Like my husband said - this brooder/plate is "genius"!
