So this rooster has 6 points.
Here's an updated pic of my unusual Biele chick. He just doesn't look like one. Nothing like his father (2 wk old male in the 2nd pic) or any Biele chick I've seen. My friends' only roo is pure Bielefelder. The hens are Black Sex Link or pure Bielefelder. It's definitely not black, so it has to be a Biele.
it's coming from the barred rock hen side. from the black sex link... rhode island red roo over barred rock hen... it's called a sport. about 25% of this happening... black sex links cannot breed true like the bieles do because they are a cross. http://barredplymouthrock.com/content/breeding-barred-rocks calls these light cockerels "sports" and these light males have 2 of the barring genes resulting in this light color.

Breeding Barred Rocks
The Barred Rock is a special breed of poultry that virtually breeds true with the addition of Sports (Light males and black females) the sports are definite and sex linked. To explain this relationship simple genetics is shown. The main factors are the Barring gene (Ba) and the Black gene (Bl) there is no gene carried on the female chromosome and this is shown (_). Males have two male chromosomes, the female one male and one female. Exhibition Barred males (Ba, Bl) and Barred females (Ba,_) are shown this way.

Barred MalexBarred Female
( Ba, Bl )x(Ba, _ )
When we mate a Barred male to a Barred female, light males and black females appear in addition to birds resembling the parents. The outcome will be one quarter of each type, Barred male, Barred female, light male (sport) and black female Sport). Light male (Ba, Ba ) Barred male (Ba, bl ) Barred female (Ba, _ ) Black female (Bl, _ )
This is the mating one usually employs especially to produce exhibition cockerels. (Ba, Bl )

Mine 5 wk olds have been contained but sharing some run space. My hens mostly ignore them, but my fav hen (Cuddles) sometimes lays down next to their cage. so sweet. Of course she could just be hanging around because she wants to get in there & gobble their food.
Yesterday one of the chicks hopped out while I was cleaning up their enclosure. Not a big deal since they just kind of run around me a bit, but this time, it went up the ramp into the coop. 4 hens were in nest boxes, & they screamed! You would have thought the tiny chick was a hawk by the volume of their alert. I quickly removed the small offender & they went back to laying eggs.

She was just gorgeous! I'm sorry for your loss. I've read so many wonderful things about this breed that I was really looking forward to the one Bielefelder egg I had hatching, but it just wasn't to be. <sigh> Birchie must be a sweetheart! In Memoriam - "Huntress" the Alpha Bielefelder Hen
Hi all - couldn't help but mourn the loss of one of our hens, named "Huntress." We gave her that name since she was really good at finding bugs and other things that move. After speaking to the vet this morning, we had no choice but to put her down. Huntress was egg-bound and required surgery. The doctor didn't think she was going to make it. Just wanted to also add that Birchie, another hen, was found trying to keep Huntress warm and protected. This only deepens our love for this docile, loving breed!
