Love these babies! They will grow up so fast!
Question for the masses. My Biele flock are still young, though laying gangbusters (thank you, girls!). I know I need to trim for optimal fertility. I'm used to doing that for my English Orpingtons because they are so intensely fluffy. Any different way for Bieles? I took my girls down pretty good above, below, and around their vents, and lower tail feathers. I'm less sure how to approach trimming my roo. Never had a bird with that tail shape before. Do I basically do the same thing, just trim short around the vent and lower tail feathers, or do I need to trim the tail length as well? He has a typical oblique set to his tail (not flat, but tipped up a bit, maybe 15-30 degrees depending on his mood).
THANKS!
|: From a breeder up in Roanoke VA. They advertise on Craigslist and have been very communicative. I elected to have them shipped ($60) even through Roanoke is within driving distance. I'm so excited! We are in Southern California... Maybe a teensy far
I'm sure this has been covered somewhere but this is a long thread and I haven't found it... I'm thinking of starting just a "little family flock" of Biels just for fun. I was thinking of just going for it and getting them from GF. Josette there has been a pleasure to talk to... Has anyone gotten theirs from them? I was given a cream legbar of theirs in a trade... She is definitely better looking than my hatchery CLs... I guess what I'm asking is- Is it worth it?
I love my B la felders! I got mine from a breeder (Feels Right Farm) that has GFF lines. These are wonderful chickens. Sweet!I was told that essentially all Biels in the country are descended from GFF lines. I haven't had the pleasure of working with them personally, but I'd most definitely go with them or a breeder that uses their stock before I'd go with a hatchery!
Just my opinion, of course!
