A Bielefelder Thread !

We are such enablers! LOL! I love my scale. I use it for weighing the coffee I roast but it has turned into an egg scale now.

Doesn't everything we own somehow relate back to chickens?

What used to be a compost container has turned into a chicken treat bucket. My recycling bin has been an inspiration for many misc chicken toys, feeders, & dishes. My camera used to be for taking pics; now it's filled with too many chicken pics. My scrap wood pile = new roosts or coop additions. Plastic totes = potential brooders. Old coolers = home-made incubators Empty feed bags = cage liners Water gun = chicken discipline Cap gun = hawk protection

Even DD's old school projects got turned into brooder walls. Will it ever end?

PS. I have also used my fancy Ohaus digital scale to weigh eggs. I don't have a kitchen scale, so my old lab scale gets re-purposed often.

I emailed the breeder and heard back. They are pullets in their 3rd month of lay, she says they came from GFF stock so we'll see how the babes end up doing.

Wow, that's a great idea for feed sacks - cage liners! I'd thought of most of your other ideas, but never knew what to do with those nice big sacks! I did see someplace on the internet that folk stuff them and make country décor pillows or frame them for wall hanging, but I have no space for any of that. But cage liners - YES!!!!! Thanks!

The rest of my eggs!!! 16 = 5 extras from Papa Brooder. His are blank or marked in black sharpie. 2 are cracked, which I may try to repair with new skin or nail polish.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but something that looks like it comes from the movie "Aliens" is pretty cool!!!!! Then again, I'm hoping to see some nice spidery veins in my first ever batch of Black/Blue/Splash Marans that I set on the 8th (my Biels are still WAY too young). Best of luck to both of us!!!!
