A Bielefelder Thread !

There is something like a recommended weight for hatching eggs for every breed in the Standard. Bielefelders should be over 60g. Yes, size matters. ;-)

I second this! With the exception of my bantams, I simply won't hatch eggs under 1.8 ounces/ 51 grams. I've found that chicks from these larger eggs simply thrive better and prove so much healthier. Plus I get a better hatch rate.

Okay..... no more sweet tea at Mickey D.

No fast food teas for us. The teeny boppers and some half-tired older ee's that clean those things sometimes don't rinse out the soap/cleaning agents out of those urns very well - hey, those teeny boppers can't even keep their own rooms clean at home and we're to trust the food they prepare for us? Just sayin'.....

When my son was younger we watched the documentary "Supersize Me". He hasn't eaten McD's food since he was 6 years old. He's the only teenager I know who will flat out refuse to eat fast food with his friends.

Supersize Me was an enlightening documentary story. I also like the Korn documentary about the many ways govt subsidized GMO corn farms produce tasteless corn to be used to make corn syrup, and all the packaged corn cereals and products on supermarket shelves and in the fast food restaurants. The reason they have to add sugar or sweeteners to packaged/canned GMO corn is because it has no sweetness or flavor of its own. And to process corn into corn syrup, lye has to be used - ugghh! Boy, since having fresh eggs of our own IHOP and Denny's look positively sickly LOL!

Sorry to everyone to have ruined mcd's tea for you all, I just know if roles were reversed I would want to know.
Actually I am doing a boat, and a barn...not done yet but I have to stop and let it dry every so often, so have a sneek peek............. wow, needs grass eh!!
It's incredible!!! Have you ever considered doing a painting of say a chicken or a scene with them as a prize for a hatch-a-long? You have an amazing talent and I would love one of your pieces or just your talent lol

I think my husband put it quite succinctly - when he ate our first eggs, he said "these make store bought taste like Banquet TV Dinner eggs"!

My 1st batch started laying right at 6 months. Batches since then, I have no idea. They are all kept in same pen. I'm with DesertChic, all large eggs. No small pullet eggs starting out.
Which one of you Texas Bielefelder breeders is close ot Ft Worth ? There is a man there BEGGING for 25 Biel chicks....and I just do not want to ship chicks right now..as far as I know, he wants them St run and delivered on June 1st for his granddaughters who live out "in the boonies"
Anyone near, send me a PM, I'll give you the guy's ph#
