I hesitate to suggest this, BUT if you want fresh eggs, you should go rob a chickadees nest.  Be very careful the chickadee does not see you doing this, or we may never hear from you again.

There is not worse ending than becoming chickadee fodder!

I was approaching the nest from the West hoping to score a nice fresh egg to put on my cheeseburger. Everything was fine, birds chirping and singing, and then SILENCE. A feeling of being watched came over me quicker than DW's mood changes. I looked to the East and saw this!!

He must be the leader! Or at least a well educated bird. I ran inside like a baby screaming all the way.
