Open Contest Miss BYC Beauty Pageant—Official 2025 BYC Mini-Contest

Was so happy to come back after the weekend and see all these new entries. KEEP THEM COMING, FOLKS! ❤️

I'd love to enter, but none of my girls are very photogenic 😔
I've mentioned this a couple times on the site, and it sounds like a complete joke, but I promise it's 100% legit for getting photos of difficult animals.

Get your subject in frame (down on their level is best, not from above). Then channel your inner 6 year-old boy and make a fart noise with your mouth. The chicken will lift its head and pause for a second or two. Click that camera button like mad, keeping as still as you can to minimize blur.

I very rarely get a chicken that likes to have their photo taken, but "the fart" has allowed me to get at least one good picture of everyone. Whistling can also work, but I find it spooks birds a bit more. The fart is more perplexing than spooky.

I'll give that a try when I get home today!

This is a judged photo Contest.

Do you own the most beautiful hen on BYC? Is she worthy of the title of Miss BYC? We want to see your beautiful hens in all their glory. No matter the breed, age, or species, we want to see your gorgeous girls. Make sure she's as pretty as she can be with all her feathers in their place, then grab your camera and show us her best glamour shot for a chance to win!

There will be at least three winners, and each will receive a copy of the beautiful BYC 2026 Calendar! If entries warrant, we will have two categories—landfowl & waterfowl—with prizes for both.
The calendar is available to winners who reside in the United States. Winners outside the United States will be awarded a 1-month PFM.
