A BYC Cookbook?? - What do you think? OK'd by Nifty Chicken

This sounds like a really fun idea and something I've been wanting to do for a LONG time! A few quick thoughts:

1) I don't know anything about copyright issues with recipes. I'm assuming you'll need permission, etc. to publish. If permission is given, then there shouldn't be any problems.

2) For sure I think an online version would be excellent. A printed one would be fun too, but to make it available to the most people, online is best.

My only other concern is what if someone copies a recipe from a book or from someone who copied it from a book? I also don't know how much a recipe needs to be "changed" before it is no longer the same recipe?

that would be cool.....i'm in the midst of working on my own book, now...although not a cookbook.

I honestly think this is one of those VERY grey areas where it will neve be an issue. i have been involved in a few community cookbooks and it never came up on any of the recipes in any of them. As long as you put recipes you have been using for years on cards or whatever, passed down from family, or your own, everything should be fine. I know there are slightly different versions of most any recipe in a hundred places out there. I want a printed one!!!! I LOVE my cookbooks!!!!!

I'm with luvmychicknkids, I want a paper one too. I read cookbooks like most people read real books. I hate reading, but can read a 500 page cookbook in no time. I have some good, OLD recipes from every catergory to submit.

I'll definitely want one!! I don't have a lot of great recipes, but can think of one that I'd be happy to contribute! Let us all know if you get the 'ok' from Rob to go ahead!!!(( real book for me... I love books!)

Please count me in..i love community cookbooks..thats where you get the best recipes!

..thanks, Wendy

Anyone who is interested in doing this, please e-mail your recipes to [email protected] and I will get them put together for print. Please make sure to give me your name, so that I can give credit to the correct person for the recipes. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Let's put a deadline of 7/31/08. That should be enough time for everyone who wants to participate to get recipes to me. Thanks everyone!!!

Steff

Copyrights can be given by the person submitting. If I was to submit one of my published and copyrighted articles or recipes all I would have to do is note that on the submission and it would be printed under my recipe.
