TOTAL COUNT: 32/37 good eggs hatched, 8 were assisted. I didn't include 2 eggs that weren't fully developed. VERY Good for me now. I think the humidity does have to be a bit higher though.

Too many chicks though, I'll only be able to let my hens lay on a few eggs this year. They won't be too happy now. I only expected 20

Holm If I set them all you better be here on hatching day. Cause that would be a ton of work!

I can't even fathom dealing with 537 chicks, or even cleaning up all those empty shells! Or having the brooder space!

Broody chicken or turkey

That will be fun. We had a broody chicken raise two poults last summer. It was really neat seeing them running around, not living in a brooder.

These are your first ever fertile turkey eggs, right? Can't wait to see Mr. T babies.

Here are some of the bourbons from my hatch. 3 are drying of in the incubator a a few more are coming I believe.

Those are so cute! What a great idea to use feed for bedding at first. No way they can miss that.

While I am at it, I took my five poults for a walk Sunday morning, and haven't managed to post the photos before now. My Kitty's name is Otter. He and his brother are 9 years old. This is their 3rd year with baby turkeys, and they know the drill by now: They follow Mom around and they are not for eating. He actually laid there and didn't move until the poults started pecking his whiskers. Then he only moved a couple of feet. He really wanted a belly rub! And, I found Speckled Sussex babies! I'm sure they can't compare to Cuddles babies, but I'm glad I finally found some. They are two weeks old and the lady helped me pick out the two that looked the most like cockerels and the two that looked the most like pullets. So I ought to have a good chance of having a 50-50 mix.
