Something I've noticed with my birds.. .... NONE of the birds OUTSIDE the pen ever show any signs of cocci.

Ones that are loaded with cocci pooping in a contained area will just increase the amount of protozoans concentrated within that area... free ranging spreads it out thinner and thus less likely for repeated pickup and reinfection...

I always have a problem with it when I have prolonged periods (like now) of wet weather.

I've had one issue with it in the past and that's it, but there's always a 2nd time for most chicken ailments...

They are rediculously messy buggers when they're in the brooders but they're 1000 times better once they're out free ranging.

Ditto. If I had to keep my ducks in a pen I'd give up entirely. They're so messy...

and a million times better when they are in a compost pile.......








BTW if they have a value of "zero" and that is making them infinitely more valuable than they are.....and multiply 0 x 1000, still makes them worthless...
