A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Yep Cindy....weather and R2elks gold nuget blooms are about the only thing going on right now.

EXCEPT...for the bug eyed babies hatched recently. And no pics lately!! Soon we will be playing "What's the Variety ". Which is much more entertaining.

Amazing how many winter weeds my front yard can grow. I don't treat with chemicals. Or try to get rid of them because of the girls. They sure enjoy grazing on them. My back yard is complete shade, the front mostly sun. So the weeds are quite different.

That is amazing.. I use a purely natural weed killer during the winter months. It is so effective not even the sandburrs grow.

:p No weeds here either. That crystalline herbicide from the sky... always super-effective. This morning I was really surprised though, when we had a bit of a walk in the ice, that there are little mullein rosettes growing out of the herbicided ground.

(It really was herbicided, too... last year the wise and magnanimous USFS decided tansy, and apparently mullein, had achieved noxious weed status and had a bunch of questionable-looking characters out here spraying poison all over anything that looked to them like mullein or tansy—or maybe they thought the mullein looked like tansy and that’s why they were spraying it too... I guess aspen trees also look like tansy. :rant

Not even a dust mask in sight. Where is OSHA? Oh wait... it IS the all wise government... it must be okay, right?)

Sorry... I didn’t mean to rant. It just sorta happened. Better now.:)

I had a couple of National Wildlife employees, I think they could have been the same ones you had based on your description, cutting diseases and dead birch trees last January from just beyond my property line into the stolen holy land. They are not suppose to cut life trees. I asked them how they knew they were cutting dead birch, the first 2 citiods said they had no idea. The third one said anyone can tell the difference from a live birch and a dead birch.....When I questioned him further and asked about recently dead during the dead of winter....He said " Sure I can, I am not an idiot." I beg to differ with him but it was not worth the effort.

I have cut trees my entire life, I find it nearly impossible to tell a recently dead birch from a live one in winter....They were not smart enough to mark them during the summer......Also I found a lot of the dead birch stumps "wept" a lot during the spring warm up.....

My rant against the socialistic communistic overbearing thieves at the Federal Game and wildlife service is over now too..... @CindyinSD thank you for raising my BP 20 points...

In other news....It was moving day again at Ralphie's Chicken Ranch for contrary fickle poultry. I moved 4 Rp hens yesterday (or day before at my age it is hard to recall exact items). I moved the RP hen that retreated to the rafters into the pen for NTAB training. I also picked the breeder Tom I wanted and put him in with them for NTAB training and parenting classes. It ended up being the same Tom I used last year. He has the best markings and body type IMHO.

I might put the odd colored ( hens) ones in with the layers. I have not decided. It appears I will not get the pens done in time. I got 3 turkey eggs today.
