A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Funny, Molpet :)

I had a Dr apt yesterday and was waiting for the lab. There was a real chatty Kathy across the room who started talking to a young guy sitting near me. The kid was telling this guy how nice cows are... too friendly to eat. Too personable, too much red meat, cholesterol, etc. I’m guessing vegan. Now while I would agree wholeheartedly with regard to certain cows of my acquaintance (you listenin’ Ralphie?:p), I had to bite my tongue (not really) to keep myself from looking up from my video and asking the kid how he thought cows would survive if people *didn’t* grow them for food. People get attached. I know. I do, too. But there are an awful lot of people who just don’t think things through at all.
I was listening..which is why I am willing to eat the cow you don't want to eat...I am just considerate that way..

:lau:lau:lau She is going to give me babies. I hope they are not too cute for too long. Hey I was wondering. Does anyone know whether a Dexter bull is tall enough to breed standard Highland heifers? I’ve never seen one, but they sound less scary than a Highland bull. I’m thinking they’re not, but... I need a bull anyway, for when the girls have calves (seller says she thinks they all sound like they’re preggers but I’m doubtful about Eden). They need rebred fairly soon so Angus bulls don’t get any ideas. I am open to suggestions.

AI....cheaper than a bull for 3 cows..

I don’t see how that works, living way out here, with only three cows. It’s not like they’re all going to go into estrus at the same time. I don’t know whether a vet would be willing to just drop everything and run out here with her long glove and her syringe...

Talk to your local large animal vet. AI is very common for cattle.

There is probably someone other than a vet around that can do it.... or offer Holm a new pigeon and he will drive out and do it...

You have about 3 days if I recall when they come into heat.
