A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

My wild and domestic boys are having a conversation the last couple of days. They are on opposite corners of the house. Wonder what they're saying?:idunno and if it has anything to do with the wild girl that stopped by a few days ago? This is the first year I've heard the wild boys so it's kind of fun listening.

Caught my turkeys munching on my wild ginger ground cover yesterday. And my Japanese Painted fern is just coming up & found Daisy eating that. So the party is over. The girls are now regulated to the back part of the yard. Can't have them eating my gardens. Things are coming up and it's too tempting. They aren't happy. They pace the fence line & stand at the gate whining. They'll get over it.

We were walking the fence line today and noticed the cows are eating pine saplings. There are so many beetle-killed trees that we’d been planning to let them grow. Oops. Fortunately there aren’t many of them, so I don’t think they’ll have hurt the cows or their babies (if they’re even pregnant). They didn’t eat the tops so I expect the trees will make it, too. I seriously never even considered they might eat pine needles. :sick

They were just picking the bugs off the trees,,,Cows love eating bugs. They are great mosquito control.

If there were storms around here last night they missed my area.

Water has come up about 3 feet from last night. Still in levees but much more raise its gonna Crest them. Couple levees to my south they are sandbagging in a weak spot. Still no moat at my house.

I have some chickens that are hatching as of tonight so far 4 are out.

But on some good news got my first turkey egg tonight from a bronze hen.

I came across a lady that needs to get rid of all her flocks of birds. Turkey wise she has 8 hens and a tom.
2 narri hens, 2 blue slate hens (blue and a self blue), 1 bourbon hen, 3 red bronze hens, and a bourbon tom. The slates are laying. one she says is acting broody already. Can get the bunch for about 300. You all think this is a deal I should go for.

GOT 'EM!!!!! Yep....caught the guineas!! I can't believe it! FINALLY!! Ran them into a net. Them jumped on them. The two guys were afraid to grab them. Thought they'd get bit. So I had to wrestle both. Caught....no harm to them. They are fine!
