A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

It is 31 right now here with sleet changing to snow for rest of the day. Only supposed to get couple inches. Considering roads and everything have been sheets of ice since Sat the snow will help some to get traction.
Around here, snow over ice is the absolute worst for traction.

You are probably correct. I will find out how bad roads are shortly. I was mostly thinking about being able to walk on. There have been two men in their 70s slip and fall since Sat here. One broke his hip in 2 places and the other fell in such a way that the screw from fake knee broke femur in 6 fractures at the knee and a spiral fracture mid way up on the femur.

I have fallen 3 times this winter. All 3 were when there was fresh snow on top of the ice. Two of the falls were very painful, one to the left hip and one to the right hip. Fortunately nothing was apparently broken although walking was quite difficult for some time.

Had another bird surgery today: this time it's an impacted crop on a marans! Took video of this one if you want to see it. https://youtu.be/JBVJBVLMAkXkXk it's surgery, so don't look if you don't like surgery!
Amazing video.. all the stuff in her crop!

Looks to me like she was committing suicide by hay.

Reminder, Sara’s Mom is a vet and I would suggest you not try this at home..

Lol yeah. Mom's friend, Dr Anderson, is very tolerant of my chicken requests. I convinced her to buy a poultry reference manual about 5 years ago. It's helped a whole lot, it's a backyard poultry medical manual for general practitioner veterinarians. It may help with your veterinarians! Most vets have very little working knowledge of poultry medicine and are nervous about working on them because of that.

I heard someone reading in the background the instructions..

it was a surgery by numbers painting..

I was going over a few things for information in the video. Dr Anderson had gone over the surgery recommendation yesterday when she saw her pre op. If it's going to be informational, knowing the suture and the type of closure is a pluss. She used 3-0 monocryl suture.

That and the techs were not sure what exactly to do. Poultry surgery is pretty darned uncommon, but I'm working on getting the vets more comfortable with it, because they know I'm not going to be mad or blame them if there is a possibility of a problem. They can't learn or get better unless they have a patient to work on.
