What is a calico?

What is genotype of the Calico?


How fast do Russian Olives grow? How tall?

The closest trees in this picture are Russian Olives that are probably around 20 years old and over 20 feet in height. They grow slow and bushy until they get big enough to start having to grow higher for more sunlight. At that time they start shooting up fairly fast. They are a thorny tree and can become difficult to get through a dense grove. I did have one come up near the house that went practically straight up because of the shade the house provided and reached 30' tall pretty quickly.

I would love to have them in my sand pit pasture. All I can grow is tumbleweeds and ragweed so big they look like trees.

I suppose the DNR would go nuts if I planted them here. I wonder if I have enough rain for them to grow. I have tried all the native trees only to have them die.
