Weird, I wonder why...

I plan to bring home 15 extra "they needed to get rid of them, very good deal" (cough, cough) CX today with my other fuzzballs.
I think there is a cough that is contagious through the internet.

This is why I'm so glad there is no one here that I have to answer to. That cabinet incubator I drove 6 hours round trip to go get right before Easter might have been hard to explain...lol

6 hours is not bad, I can do that after she leaves for work and be home before she gets home...

Sort of like what happened the day I went and got my diamond encrusted egg layers AKA Crested Cream Legbars.. ( yeah I know the name is just cream legbars now, but I like crested too)

I almost got caught that day I was only home about 20 minutes when she got home.......

Time to expose my worry wartness

I hatched a batch of chicks just before Easter, I had a fair hatch, one I can live with.

I had 7 diamond encrusted creamette eggs due to hatch yesterday. Some call them Cream legbars.

None hatched. Not one. I opened 4 that were obviously worthless, I had 2 non-starters, 1 started but did not go far. the 4th one was nearly full term.

I have 45 turkey eggs in the incubators, along with 18 chicken eggs and a few guinea eggs. I am worried I am doing something wrong.


I have 3 incubators, my wife says I dare not buy another, but she did not say I could not get one I "found" at say Fleetfarm.......If I use my egg money she will never know it was not free,,,,would she?

anyways I have 3 incubators one is a still air I have set up as a hatcher, the other two have a fan and turner in them. I have 3 thermometers with probes, I have moved them between the incubators, double checking the temps and the thermometers against each other. The thermometers on the incubators themselves are not accurate at all.

Any ideas? CALM My nerves, please. This could drive me to drinking,,,,more

I cant say that the non hatchers were not due to incubation techniques or the incubators themselves, but I will tell you that is is often reported by Cream Legbar owners about having bad hatch rates. Often eggs develop to full term and make it to lockdown and then die before pipping. This may be due to how many Cream Legbars are closely related and don't have enough genetic diversity.

What day are your other eggs on and how are they looking so far?

I would throw them out but the one I hatched out before easter did not come out until day 22. Of course it was weak and died.

I am thinking I need a broody for the CL's.

Sorry Ralph! I wish I knew. I am a first timer with my prized turkey eggs.
I think hatching can be hard. But, I don't know.
When Clyde rejected them, I borrowed an incubator from our local feed store (it doesn't have a turner), read as much info as I could find. Then spent 2 days checking the thermometer like a crazy lunatic, turning, checking humidity, etc. Now I check the temps once or twice a day and turn the eggs 3 times a day. Fingers crossed.

I candled again yesterday, they don't seem much bigger than when I did it 5 days ago. I think I just need to stop. I will make myself crazy.
What is worse, I have to leave town for 4 days. I don't know that I can trust my DH to rotate eggs for me. I may have my neighbor come do it.
