A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

OK everyone, those high pitched chirps that the turkeys make, are they excitement or warning? They've been making those chirping noises whenever I walk into the coop lately and I'm trying to figure out if they're just really excited to see me or if they're freaking out cause they know I'm there for their eggs lol. Eve wouldn't stop chirping like that earlier until I paid attention to her but if it's Winnie or Sarah, they're skittish and run from me.

I am not sure. I hear the same sound. I hear it when they are giving a warning and when they are excited. I think there is a subtle difference that us humans cannot pick out between the two sounds.

It does!!!

Grats on saving the little tyke!

Feisty I hope you do not mind I put the link in the BYC  thingy so it shows here.

I am so proud of your DH!

I was cursing at loading a video, so thank you for putting it up properly for me :)

I am proud of my DH too. I asked if he was keeping it warm, and he said he was watching TV with it sleeping on his belly. So apparently all is well. Can't believe that my makeshift incubator worked?!? I guess now I just hope that baby survives the week of bachelorhood....

Your DH did good! Love that he's keeping it warm like that! Now he's moma! I can see it now....next time he takes Turkulas for a run, there will be a little chicken running with them! Let's just hope Turkulas doesn't trip over it & hurt himself!! :gig

Aurora/Ralph....I think that's an alert chirp.

Ralph, I'm not sure breeding an 8 year old lab for the first time is something you'd want to risk. If you really want to try it, I'd find a reproduction specialist. Then you can send another kid to college.

it is the reason I have not tried really hard. I Would like one, the vet says she should conceive and have no problems, but you never know. She is kind of a bonehead... the dog not the vet..

I know she needs to have them before she turns 10 or I cannot register them.
