OK everyone, those high pitched chirps that the turkeys make, are they excitement or warning? They've been making those chirping noises whenever I walk into the coop lately and I'm trying to figure out if they're just really excited to see me or if they're freaking out cause they know I'm there for their eggs lol. Eve wouldn't stop chirping like that earlier until I paid attention to her but if it's Winnie or Sarah, they're skittish and run from me.

Mine do that when there is a hawk close...

I candled my eggs...

28 went in on the 2nd 22 look good. 3 look maybe.. 3 look like poop..

13 went in last Saturday so only 5 days on heat. half have blood vessels. Not bad for 5 days! I thought it would be worse because of cold temps.

Awesome!! I had an egg that didnt start developing till day twelve once and it was second to hatch!!

At my request, DH sent me a picture of little peeper to cheer me up after the funeral today. Seems to be surviving life with a bachelor so far. Although DH did say that he was awakened at 3 am by baby peeps....I told him that's what he gets for being momma

Memphis - what was the caption contest? I have tons of turkey pictures - surely I could find one or two that fit the criteria (apparently I am a bit snap-happy).

Ron - sorry to hear about your marans I hate losing birds.

I can't wait to see all the baby pictures that should be starting soon.....you all have so many eggs incubating, this is going to be awesome

Morning all. Been quiet here!

Got home in time to take the flock for a stroll. Saw the mailman coming so I wandered out front to wait for him. He's turned into a turkey fan. Stops to pet Daisy. He gets a kick out of them. Chickens not so much....says he prefers them fried.

Anybody win Poweball? I bought one ticket. I got the Powerball twice. I think I won 8 bucks. Someone about 15 miles north of Memphis did hit all the numbers. Cool!

You should put in a small mirror and/or a stuffed animal so the chick doesn't get lonely.
