A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Turkeytruff: congrats on the poults. Day 23. You might double check the temp on your bator might be a hair high.

Ralphie: congrats on the calico poults.

Nothing new on my birds. Hoping to get a plucker in sept. Have few too many. 6 of my saved poults are toms.

Hatched out 25 new baby quail today. They are about the size of a bumblebee. Have 120 more quail eggs cooking.

Feedman...Bumblebee sized baby birds sounds adorable. Take some pics!

"Doing the Aurora " cracked me up Ralph! Another one to add to our turkey list of terms.

I have had them hatch on day 26 but never before, those are the ones that end up on the floor of the incubator doing the Aurora.

Everyone do the Aurora! ; congrats on your calico hatch! I'm tired of cheapskates too. I had 8 pullets up for sale, about 3 months old or so. Nothing special, colored egg mixes but I wanted $40 for ask of them. I've feed them and kept them long enough to know they're girls. Someone said they'd only be interested for $30. I didn't respond. Tired of people being so cheap.

I figured out why this BBB is limping. It's got bumble foot, or at least it's swelling dramatically in the foot through the thumb claw, but she is still walking on it. What do I do with her? Was hoping not to eat another one until 20 lbs. Still, she's bigger than the Royal Palm and the burbon red hens. Should I cut out the bumble? Dose her up? Or eat her so I don't have to give her antibiotics? Does Baytril or tetracycline work for bumble foot? Gah!

If you process your own turkeys, what do you use to scald them in? I usually skin or occasionally dry pluck, but my friend wants to scald her big chickens. Any suggestions?
